We will explain the coverage available for each type, so that you can make the right decision for your travel needs.

Class C RV Insurance

A Class C RV is required to have its own insurance policy. Your existing auto insurance does not include covering the motorized vehicle.

North Carolina requires Class C RV owners to carry liability insurance along with uninsured or underinsured motorists. The minimum requirements for liability insurance. The amount of coverage required depends on the renewal date of your policy, or when the policy was first issued. Required coverage includes bodily injury liability. This is per person. There is also bodily injury liability and property damage liability. Both are coverage per accident.

You may also need to carry comprehensive and collision coverage if your Class C is leased or being financed. Adding comprehensive and collision is recommended, even if you own it outright. The coverage protects your RV from events, such as vandalism, theft, accidents, and storms.

Travel Trailer Insurance

You are not required to carry a separate policy for a travel trailer because it is not a motorized vehicle operable on its own. Liability for a travel trailer is typically covered by the vehicle that tows the trailer. The coverage is for property damage or bodily injury.
